What is erectile dysfunction?
- Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common male sexual health condition. It is usually defined as the persistent or recurrent inability to achieve or maintain an erection that is firm enough for satisfactory sexual activity. It may occur occasionally or more regularly, with or without an obvious cause. Some men with ED are unable to get an erection at all.
- ED is not life-threatening, but it can have a negative impact on your quality of life and that of your partner. Because ED can sometimes be a sign of underlying health problems, it is important to discuss it with your doctor.
